Quintessential Oakland. Heart, soul, one love and good cookin pours out of this place. There's real history here and also some amazing pies.

    Oh the pie.

    This ain't no ordinary pie.

Come early on Sundays and you'll have access to their dinner menu that's only offered one day a week.

Try everything. You won't go home hungry.

Ordered Fried Chicken meal to go.
It wasn't FRIED CHICKEN! It was a shake & bake BLAND coated chicken in the OVEN!
Red Beans were still HARD and not even cooked til soft.
    Stale Cornbread
    Entire meal a disappointment

Love this place! Such a cozy diner. My boyfriend and I came for the pie and the peach cobbler.

We ended up getting the lime raspberry pie and BOY was it a good choice! The perfect amount of tanginess, with amazing flavors- it tasted like a homemade pie but professionally made at the same time.

While I liked the peach cobbler my boyfriend didn't- it was a bit too soupy for him. I am not quite sure what a peach cobbler is supposed to be like, but I liked the strong cinnamon flavors and the wateriness.

I wish I could go back and try the shrimp and grits, as that looked amazing as well. All in all, this is a must-stop for pies and desserts in general!

Walking up, this place didn't look to promising.

We walked right in, no wait. Customer service was great. Everyone's plate was good. I had the fried chicken and waffles, followed by the peach cobbler and lemon ice box pie.

    What stood out the me

    Lemon ice box pie!!!! Delish!!!

Great food and service! Everyone's food in my party was delicious, especially the ones with fried chicken and pork chops! The homemade biscuits were delicious also!!
